Jessica Runs For Community Help in Park Slope (CHiPS)

My name is Jessica Lefkowitz and I am a physical therapist at Good Reps PT in Brooklyn, NY. I found my love for running while on my last clinical rotation of PT school. I was working closely with high level endurance athletes and became inspired by my patients ability to do hard things. These individuals were managing full-time jobs, familial responsibilities, and training with grace.

I started my running journey with walk/running in March 2023 and I continued building my base throughout the summer. By the end of 2023, I was able to run seven miles, and in May of 2024 I ran the Brooklyn Half Marathon. In this time frame, I fell in love with the process of running; how so much can change in a year of dedicated training and how training brought a sense of consistency to my life.

I am so excited to partner with CHiPs to run the NYC marathon this November! As I was raised by a single mother who provided me the world I would love to give back to this community within Brooklyn NY.
I am excited to start this fundraising process to help set up further programs for single expectant mothers in need.

About CHiPS

Based in the Park Slope/Gowanus community of Brooklyn, CHiPS's mission is to ameliorate food insecurity and homelessness in New York City. Founded in 1971 to offer sustenance to our community, CHiPS is now a full-service soup kitchen and food pantry open six days a week, as well as a home for expectant single mothers. For over fifty years, we’ve served as a beacon of hope to thousands of our friends and neighbors in need—and we’ve been able to succeed thanks to people like you. Our friends, supporters, volunteers help ensure we keep the doors open, the meals hot, and the support ready for years to come.
